Qualified from UCD in 1987, Karena obtained MIGP and MRCGP in 1992. Further qualifications include a Master’s in Family Medicine in 2000 and FRCGP in 2008. Karena has 25 year’s experience of running a busy GP practice, and has been a medical educator since 2000. Her research interests are varied with international publications in therapeutics, immediate care and with a particular research interest in vertigo. Karena has held a variety of ICGP posts, including Regional Research Adviser, Chair of a number of college committees. In 2016 Karena was appointed as the ICGP National Director of GP training.
