Claire, in her role as Legal Counsel, provides members with support and advice regarding a variety of medico-legal issues, claims and complaints on a daily basis.
Claire graduated from Dublin City University with a BA in International Relations and subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Having completed her professional training with the Law Society of Ireland, Claire was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland in January 2015 and is also admitted to the Roll in England and Wales.
Claire has a keen interest in healthcare regulation. Prior to joining Medisec, Claire worked with an established Dublin law firm where she advised healthcare regulators in the context of professional disciplinary matters. During this time, Claire primarily advised the Medical Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland in the context of investigating and preparing cases for hearing before fitness to practise and professional conduct committees.
Claire has a strong background in litigation and dispute resolution having advised both Plaintiff and Defendant clients in the context of medical negligence, catastrophic and personal injury claims.
Claire volunteers with the Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) on a regular basis and was recently awarded the Golden FLAC Pin and Certificate acknowledging more than three years’ volunteering.
