Mary Davin–Power

Dr Mary Davin-Power brings her vast experience of General Practice at the coalface to the team at Medisec, where she acts as Senior Clinical Risk Adviser, and provides medical expertise to reports, guides and advisories for members. Mary chairs our GP Advisory Panel, and assists members with support regarding a variety of medico-legal issues, advices, claims and complaints. In addition she presents educational workshops and delivers lectures on the topic of medical risk. Mary qualified in medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Specialising in General Practice she was principal in an NHS Primary Care Centre in Bracknell, Berkshire, UK for some years before returning to live in Ennis, Co. Clare where she spent 15 years in General Practice. It was here that she developed an interest in Medico-Legal Medicine, having a significant amount of professional interaction with the Gardaí, the Social Services and the Legal Profession. She moved to Dublin in 2005 and became involved in Medical Education as Clinical Skills Tutor in the RCSI Graduate Entry Programme and ICGP CME Tutor in North Dublin. In 2013 she attained a MMed.Sc in Medical Education from Queens University Belfast. She now lives in Dublin where she practices in Trinity College Student Health Service. She was involved with the Irish College of General Practitioners as Faculty Liaison Officer, helping develop ICGP faculties countrywide. She also serves on the Clinical Ethics Forum in Beaumont Hospital and the GP Liaison Committee in The National Maternity Hospital, Holles St. Mary is a recent Past President of the Medico-Legal Society of Ireland. She is very much involved in the maintenance of standards in General Practice and has assisted the Irish Medical Council in this area.

In 2013 she attained a MMed.Sc in Medical Education from Queens University Belfast.

She now lives in Dublin where she practices in Trinity College Student Health Service. She has been closely involved with the Irish College of General Practitioners  as Faculty Liaison Officer, helping develop ICGP faculties countrywide.

She was until recently Primary Care Representative on the Quality Assurance Committee of the CervicalCheck Programme and she serves on the Clinical Ethics Forum in Beaumont Hospital and the GP Liaison Committee in The National Maternity Hospital Holles St.
