Dee Duffy has in excess of five years’ Healthcare experience. Dee qualified as a solicitor in December 2012, having graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree. Dee worked and trained in one of Ireland’s largest law firms and gained significant experience prior to and post qualification in healthcare law. Dee regularly provided written and oral advice to medical indemnifiers and practitioners on issues relevant to the medical profession. Dee adopts a proactive and reasonable approach in supporting practitioners and is very aware of the distress caused by being subject to a complaint or a claim. Dee has a strong background in litigation and dispute resolution, having represented medical and dental practitioners in clinical negligence litigation issued in the Irish courts. Dee also has experience in providing legal advice on all aspects of defamation and reputation issues. Dee has represented medical professionals in disciplinary and regulatory matters, including Medical Council complaints, Fitness to Practise Inquiries, applications for suspension of Medical Council registration. She has also advised practitioners and their indemnifiers regarding participation at Inquests and with Commissions of Investigations and HSE / HIQA inquiries. Most recently, Dee has worked as an associate in the Public and Regulatory Department of a leading law firm where she worked primarily for the Medical Council in investigating and preparing cases for Fitness to Practise Committees. Dee volunteers with the Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) on a regular basis. With a keen interest in the medico-legal field, Dee regularly publishes articles online on legal topics of interest.
